One of many pictures of field and farm—watercolours mostly—done without sentimentality, capturing the rural life of Hahndorf.

Polly and Jack were the two draught horses belonging to old Kramm who came in regularly to do the ploughing, cultivating and supering at The Cedars. Hans caught them in many moods.
