This drawing would appear to be a sketch made on the spot. The group in the foreground could include some of Lambert’s Parisian friends, who enjoyed musical gatherings. The black-and-white technique suggests it may have been intended for publication.

The previous owner was the pianist and friend of Constant Lambert, Angus Morrison. He inscribed on the verso that it was given to his mother by Amy Lambert.
