BILLYCAN, Jan (Djan NANUNDIE)

All a long the jila (waterhole) this side, my country, we been walk, wanga (my people) belong to him … We get him cold water and carry him on our head in round one (like coolamon). This is all the jila in my country including Karrparti, Kawarr, Jurntiwa and Wirrguja jila. It also shows Dodo, Kartal and Kiriwirri and Yukarri and others. When I was young I walked all around these places, with my mummy and daddy. In living water there is a quiet snake. Sometimes he rises up, but we sing him down, sometimes he can travel and bring rain … Ilyarra is my country, Ilyarra, where I grew up. Lots of tali (sand dunes) and jila in this country. This is big dog country.
