Victorian-born Isobel McDonald (1871–1926) came from an artistic family and she studied under Frederick McCubbin at the National Gallery School in Melbourne. She is said to have taken lessons with Roberts and participated in weekend artistic expeditions to Heidelberg. Isobel exhibited regularly with the Queensland Art Society from 1892 until 1901 and was included in Women’s work exhibition, Melbourne in 1907.
