James Arthur Boyd (1867–1941) was born in Portsea, England and emigrated to Melbourne in 1885. From humble beginnings as a tradesman, he attained positions managing grain stores in Melbourne, and then directing prominent wool and insurance companies across Australia. He served as president of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce and the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Australia from 1920 until 1932. In the ‘Big Picture’, he is seated in the upper gallery with others who were selected for inclusion for their role in business.
