is a suite of Turner’s prints, some of which were engraved by the artist, published in parts between 1807 and 1819.  Inspired by Claude Lorrain’s , Turner’s ‘book of studies’ was intended as a manual for artists. Categorised into six types—marine, mountainous, pastoral, historical, architectural, and elevated or epic pastoral—it also expresses his ambitions for landscape art.
