Constable painted this poetic view with Harrow Hill bathed in a diffuse and watery light on a still, hazy summer evening a little while before sunset. It makes an interesting contrast with Hampstead Heath, sun setting over Harrow 12 September 1821  , which Constable depicted from a similar viewpoint and with the same foreground features. -
