Objects combining gold and silver are often found in Moche graves. The two metals symbolised many dualist aspects of the universe, especially male/female, sun/moon, right/left and day/night. Important figures had gold placed on the right side of the body and silver on the left, as the right was considered masculine, the left feminine. These ideas extend throughout Peruvian religious beliefs, which show the importance of the relationship between the sun and the moon.
