John Baldessari
John Baldessari is renowned for works featuring found photographs and appropriated images. He began introducing text and photographs into his paintings in the late 1950s—developing his own lexicon of images and texts collected from film, newspaper and magazine clippings—and by the 1970s had expanded his practice to include printmaking, film, sculpture and installation. He also incorporated the structuralist theories of Claude Levi-Strauss, most prominently in his extensive photomontage series Blasted allegories.
