The series The ballad of sexual dependency presents the artist’s experiences around Boston, New York, Berlin and elsewhere. The full series comprises almost 700 portraits sequenced against an evocative music soundtrack developed through improvised live performances by friends of Goldin such as Maria Callas and The Velvet Underground. The deeply personal narrative, captures intimate moments of love and loss, the experience of pain, sex, and drug use, and the struggles of domestic violence.
