Marc SIJAN

(born 1946 Serbia)

Sijan, an American artist, worked in the 1970’s with Duane Hanson, with whom he refined the technique of hyperrealistic representation. Today, Sijan is Hanson’s successor in the context of hyperrealistic sculpture. He takes an very long time to create the true-to-life illusion of his hyperrealistic life-sized works using magnifying glasses and real life models The realness of his figures seems so absolute that they appear to have been caught mid-step. His work depicts everyday situations through which his immaculately pristine, dignified and proud figures, move.
