Sun YUAN
(born 1972 Beijing, China; born 1974 Jiamusi, China)
Sun Yuan and Peng Yu have been working collaboratively since 2000, making provocative works that often incorporate unconventional, organic materials such as human fat and live animals. Across an array of mediums, the duo’s practice provides a means with which to question the complexities of the human condition and challenge systems of social and political authority. Sun and Peng’s sculptures and installations often instigate powerful psychological and even physical reactions in the viewer, and use dark humour to address contentious topics.
